For those of you who did not hear from Jim in his final days, let me assure you, he thought about you, but couldn't bring himself to call you. It was, I think, his way of being strong, and not admitting defeat. It was also the nature of his disease, or his way of dealing with it, that led him to withdraw from people in his final months. I will be happy to talk to anyone who would like to know more about his final months and days. He fought bravely to the end. I was with him when he passed, peacefully, into the great beyond, and assured him that his friends and family loved and appreciated him. Though he hadn't been responsive at all that day, when I told him he was loved and it was okay to let go, his breathing calmed markedly, and within a few brief minutes he made his transition.
